Direct answerA useful pre-shipment inspection plan identifies the purchase order and lot, defines how samples are selected, classifies defects, lists visual, dimensional, functional and packaging checks, and names the person authorized to accept, reject or require corrective action.
Freeze the inspection scope
- Purchase order, model, configuration, quantity and production lot.
- Approved sample, specification, artwork and packaging references.
- Inspection stage, location, sampling method and sample quantity.
- Critical, major and minor defect definitions with written limits.
- Disposition authority and retest or reinspection rule.
Minimum check groups
| Group | Examples to define |
|---|---|
| Identity | Model, rating label, colour, plug, language and accessories |
| Workmanship | Damage, contamination, fit, finish, assembly and leakage signs |
| Function | Power, controls, modes, indicators, shut-off and abnormal behavior |
| Performance | Selected critical tests using approved methods and limits |
| Packaging | Artwork, barcode, quantity, protection, carton and shipping marks |
| Traceability | Lot code, inspection record, sample identity and photo evidence |
Inspection sequence
- Confirm lot completeness and randomly select samples under the agreed rule.
- Photograph lot condition, cartons, labels and selected units.
- Perform identity and workmanship checks before functional testing.
- Record each defect against its exact requirement and sample identifier.
- Summarize counts by defect class and apply the agreed acceptance rule.
- Issue a signed report with release, hold, correction or reinspection status.
Important boundary
This page does not prescribe a universal sampling level or acceptance number. Product risk, order size, regulatory duties and buyer policy determine the final plan; these values must be agreed before inspection.
